The homeowners’ association will separately contract with a broadband service provider of their connection to the cloud. These connections are tailored to the demands of the community and range from a T1 line that provides 1.5mb service to a fiber optic line that can provide 20mb or more. Providers of these connections will help the homeowners’ association determine which connection is appropriate for their community. Most providers charge a simple monthly fee with no initial out-of-pocket expense for the connection. These connections usually involve actual running of cable from a trunk line to the site and can take as much as 90 days to complete. While that work is taking place, Community Wireless Broadband will be working on its equipment installation so that the system will go hot as soon as the connection to the site is complete.
